Biographical Information of Attorneys and Law Clerk
Craig Ackermann
Since founding Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C. in 2004, Craig Ackermann has served as lead counsel in numerous wage and hour class actions in California state and federal courts, including a number of missed meal break and unpaid overtime class actions. From 2004 through the present, Mr. Ackermann also served as lead counsel for dozens if not hundreds of indvividual plaintiffs in individual or multi-plaintiff sexual or racial harassment or retaliation cases in state and federal courts in California and Texas.
Before founding Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C., Mr. Ackermann worked for Arenson, Dittmar & Karban in New York City, where he was part of a small legal team that represented 150 workers in a sexual harassment case against a Wall Street Bank. Earlier in his
career, Mr. Ackermann also worked as an associate in the labor and employment sections of Jenkens & Gilchrist, P.C. in Dallas, Texas, and Mitchell Silberberg and Knupp in Los Angeles, California, where he represented companies including WorldCom, Alcatel, Belo Corporation, Southern Farm Bureau Insurance and CompuCom, among others, as second chair in numerous individual and class action employment-related lawsuits. A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, Mr. Ackermann is a member of the California and Texas Bars. He is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association.
Tatiana Hernandez
Tatiana Hernandez is currently serving as associate counsel in at least a dozen numerous wage and hour class actions in California state and federal courts. Ms. Hernandez has been also involved as associate counsel in several large multi-plaintiff sexual harassment cases.
Before joining Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C. in 2007, Tatiana Hernandez, a native of Panama, worked in several of the largest law firms in Los Angeles, including Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw & Pittman LLP, Munger Tolles & Olson, and Jones Day. Previously, while in law school, she worked as a legal intern for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. A graduate of the University of Panama School of Law, Ms. Hernandez subsequently received a master’s degree in law from the University of Southern California School of Law. A member of the Bars of Panama and California, Ms. Hernandez's practice now focuses exclusively on representing employees in the area of labor and employment law. Ms. Hernandez is the firm’s first fully bilingual attorney in Spanish and English.
Yael Tilajef Ackermann, Esq.
Before joining Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C. where she is a shareholder, Yael Tilajef Ackermann worked as an associate for the Law Offices of Vicki J. Greene, practicing complex litigation for clients in high net-worth family law cases. Previously, Mrs. Ackermann also worked in New York City from 1999 through 2002 as an associate for the law firm of Rimberg & Associates, P.C., where she handled a variety of litigation matters on behalf of employers and small businesses. Prior to Rimberg & Associates, Mrs. Ackermann worked for Peter Axelrod & Associates, P.C., and served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Bernard J. Fried of the Supreme Court of the State of New York.
Mrs. Ackermann holds a BS from Sy Syms School of Business, a division of Yeshiva University and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. She is admitted to the Ne York, New Jersey, and California Bars.
Rachelle Tsarovsky
Rachelle Tsarovsky joined Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C. in 2007. Currently, her practice is focused on representing California employees, particularly in thearea of wage and hour law. She also litigates classactions on behalf of employees against large corporations.
Before joining Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C., Rachelle Tsarovsky was an associate at the Law Offices of Vicki J. Greene, practicing complex litigation for clients in high net-worth family law cases. Ms. Tsarovsky also worked at the premier entertainment law firm of Lavely & Singer, P.C., representing talent in business and entertainment cases in State and Federal Courts. Ms. Tsarovsky attended UCLA School of Law, where she graduated with a specialization in Entertainment Law and Media Studies. During her time at UCLA School of Law she participated on the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs. Ms. Tsarovsky also attended UCLA for her undergraduate studies. She is a member of the California Bar, and is an active member of the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Bar Associations.
Avi Mermelstein
As a senior law clerk for Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C., Avi Mermelstein has worked on numerous wage and hour class actions in California state and federal courts. In addition, Mr. Mermelstein has been also been involved in the firm's individual and multi-plaintiff sexual and racial harassment cases.
A native of New York, NY, Mr. Mermelstein graduated from Yeshiva University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. He has interned on the writing staffs of several television shows including “Deadwood,” winner of a Golden Globe and “The West Wing,” winner of multiple Emmy Awards. At Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C., he now focuses exclusively on aiding and abetting the representation of employees in the area of labor and employment law. Trilingual in English, Hebrew, and Aramaic, Mr. Mermelstein is adept at handling many of the firm's initial client intakes.
